Step four, Coaching
Someone who has done your job, sitting with you while you do it.
Coaching is an experienced nonprofit leader in the room with you and your team. Take it as part of an engagement, or book it on its own.
What we coach
Six areas, and you can take just one.
Leadership development
- Other leaders who can run the meeting and make the call
- A director who can take a week off without the work stopping
- Decisions made by the person closest to the work
Strategic planning and implementation
- A plan the board adopted and the staff can describe
- Priorities with a person responsible for each one
- A review that still happens in a busy quarter
Executive coaching
- Somebody to talk it through with who has done the job
- A calendar that matches the priorities you set
- Decisions that stop waiting on one person
Fundraising coaching
- A second and third source of revenue built from the one you have
- A board that helps raise money and knows how
- An ask your staff are comfortable making
Board development and governance
- Board meetings that spend their time on the year ahead
- Clear lines between what the board decides and what staff decides
- A written succession plan for the executive
Impact clarity and metrics
- An answer to what changed, that you can say to a funder
- A few measures your team can actually collect
- Reporting that falls out of the work your team is already doing
Who coaches
You work with someone who has held the job.
Coaching is led by Tim, who has run nonprofits for most of his working life and coaches in the areas he has worked in. When an engagement needs something outside that, we say so and bring in someone who has done it.
How it runs
We prefer in person connections with your team.
The assessment review begins with a video call and introduction.
